Gizmo: the 3 inch frame the Kilowatt replaced

An earlier 3 inch frame in Mode 2 FPV's line, discontinued before the Kilowatt took its place. Almost nothing else about it survives, and this page says so plainly.

This is the thinnest page in the archive, and it exists mainly because another page needs it. The Kilowatt's own shop page explains its own existence by reference to the Gizmo: "with the Gizmo gone we needed a new 3" frame." No shop page for the Gizmo itself survives in the Wayback Machine's captures, so almost everything known about it comes second-hand, from that one sentence on someone else's product page and from a trace in the catalogue's apparel line.

Why this page exists at all

A page this thin is only worth publishing because the alternative, a dead link, is worse for the person who reaches it. The FPV building community still links to old mode-2.com product pages from Thingiverse and RotorBuilds write-ups, and a reader who follows one to the Gizmo deserves an honest account of what is actually known, not a dead link and not an invented specification sheet.

What this page cannot say

No weight, wheelbase, material thickness, price or release date for the Gizmo survives. There is no photo description and no documented motor compatibility. It is not clear whether the Gizmo's own design was ever released under the GNU GPL v3 the way the frames still listed on the site's open source frames page in May 2020 were: since it had already been discontinued by then, it may simply have dropped off that page rather than being deliberately excluded from the licence. Neither possibility is documented, so this page states the gap rather than guessing at it.

For the frame that replaced it, with a full documented specification, see Kilowatt. For the rest of the catalogue, see open source frames or the archive overview. For how a modern 3 inch build is put together, see frames.
